The National September 11 Memorial Museum recounts the events and honors the victims of the two terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, on 9/11/2001 and 2/26/1993, when more than 3,000 people were killed and thousands more injured in these attacks.

The museum was dedicated on May 15, 2014. In attendance were a range of dignitaries, from President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to former mayors David Dinkins, Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg and current Mayor Bill de Blasio. During the hour-long ceremony, LaChanze sang “Amazing Grace,” which she dedicated to her husband Calvin Gooding, who was killed in the attack on the World Trade Center.
Exhibition
The museum’s collection has more than 14,000 items, which include survivor accounts, photographs, items that once belonged to some of the 2,996 people killed in the terrorist attack, works of art commemorating the victims, items recovered from the rubble, steel columns of the Twin Towers, spoken word recordings, over 500 hours of video and many other mind-blowing artifacts.
During your visit you will see a mangled New York Fire Department vehicle, a charred elevator motor, a section of the North Tower antenna, the stone stairs, signs, bicycles and carts that stood near the WTC as well as security videos where you can see how terrorists pass security checkpoints..
Visitors can also watch an interactive timeline of the episode with detailed information.
One of the most recent exhibits is the uniform of the soldier who killed Bin Laden, the terrorist responsible for organizing the attacks.
Audiovisual Documents
During the visit, you can watch two documentaries (one 15 minutes, the other 10 minutes) that we highly recommend. “Facing crisis” features interviews with those who were directly involved in the decision-making – such as President George W. Bush and the Mayor of New York. “Rebirth at Ground Zero” is an account of how they renovated the area after the attacks.
