Penultimate day today and it will be dedicated to shopping. But before we leave for the mall we’ll have one last New York experience. Helicopter ride over Manhattan. Whatever I describe is little. 20 minutes of absolute sight and sensation. All the best to close this dream trip.
Once the helicopter landed, we took the subway to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There we got tickets ($14 per person) to The Mills at Jersey Gardens. The Mills at Jersey Gardens is a giant shopping center in New Jersey (next to Newark airport) which, in addition to regular and outlet stores of all brands, also has outlets of major New York stores, such as Bloomingdale’s, Saks, Marshalls and the huge Burlington with its many offerings. We found real opportunities that we didn’t even think we would see in Greece. Fortunately the large suitcase had arrived almost empty. In between shopping we sat in one of the fancy restaurants on the upper level. To say my “sin”, we didn’t manage to shoot it all (240 stores that is), so I imagine there would be other opportunities.
Afternoon return to Manhattan exhausted and full of bags. A little rest at the hotel and a trip to Chinatown and Little Italy. Stroll through the 2 picturesque neighborhoods with the incredible Chinese market and endless restaurants and cafes. We took Chinese takeout from a restaurant and the last souvenirs from the Chinese shops and ended up at Columbus Park where we ate at the outdoor tables.
Today early at the hotel since we have to pack and get ready for the next day which will be the departure. A “little bird” from Athens confided in us that it is a good idea to remove the labels from everything we bought, because in the event of an inspection we might have to go through customs.
