Boating in New York

Whether you’re coming to Central Park for the first time or have come again, renting a boat or gondola is a surefire way to enjoy a unique perspective and see Central Park like you never have before.

You can rent a boat at the Loeb Boathouse from 10am. to dusk each day and go boating on the 88-acre lake that is the second largest lake in Central Park. The Loeb Boathouse has a fleet of 100 boats, each of which can accommodate four people.

The first hour costs $15 and every subsequent quarter an additional three dollars with a maximum limit of $20. Boating in Central Park is one of the most affordable activities in the city. From the boat, you can enjoy a private conversation, in the heart of the lake, have the perfect date, and why not, propose.

The ride also allows you to see waterfowl up close that are difficult to see from shore, such as the park’s famous herons. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. You can also take food with you and enjoy a picnic in the center of the lake. Boats are available for hire only in good weather.
